A one-time prominent Tallahassee investment adviser and former chairman of the Seminole Booster board was found guilty of aggravated child abuse in Bay County Thursday.
Don Reinhard, 57, entered a plea of no contest to the charges he forced a 3-year-old to eat feces as punishment during toilet training. He will spend five years at Bay County Correctional Institution.
The prison time will run concurrently with a 5-year violation of probation sentence from December in connection with a 2014 grand theft charge in Leon County.
In August, the mother of the child in the Bay County case, Katherine Buxton, pleaded no contest to charges of principal to child abuse. She told investigators she witnessed Reinhard abusing her child on at least two occasions but did not file a report.
In October 2009, Reinhard was sentenced to 51 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to fraud and money laundering related charges.
He was charged after a two-year investigation by the Internal Revenue Service and the U.S. Trustee Program found he falsified tax returns and concealed assets in bankruptcy filings.
